D.Pharma. or Diploma in Pharmacy is an undergraduate Diploma Course in the medical field of Pharmacy. Pharmacy is a medical field involved in the preparation, dispensing and appropriate use of medication meant for therapeutic purposes. The course provides the minimum qualification to become a Registered Pharmacist in India. It is also offered as D.Pharm. in various medical instituteswhich is one and the same thing. Pharma.D./Pharm.D is another course which might sound similar but it is not; Pharma.D. is Post Graduate Course. Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) is the regulatory body of Pharmacy education in India and as such only the institutes approved by the PCI under sub-section (1) of Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948 can offer it. There is no specialisation in D.Pharma. and the course only provides the basic concepts of pharmaceutical science.

Droan Educational Society has planned to establish a new Institution i.e Droan College of Pharmacy which will offer Diploma in Pharmacy an undergraduate Diploma Course in the medical field of Pharmacy.Since Droan College of Pharmacy is situated near Dineshpur area which is adjacent to SIDCUL. After Uttarakhand came into existence and Udham Singh Nagar was declared as District many Industries were set up and a separate SIDCUL ( State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttaranchal ) came into existence over the area of about 4000 acres of land constituting about 421 companies including Pharmaceutical and heavy companies.

Therefore there is a great need and requirement of the Pharmacists in the district and there is only one other institution located at about 30 km who can provide training and education related to the Pharmacy. Droan Educational Society studied and analyzed the whole scenario with great interest and enthusiasm and want to come forward in this regard so as to train and educate the youth of the area as per to meet the demands of the present scenario and future.

Droan College of Pharmacy will fulfill the present and future demands of the Rudrapur as well as nearby areas of Kumaun Region having about 30 Senior Secondary Schools and will provide education to the youth and will nourish the region with the right and joyful manner.
